"Blindsided" No More: How to Thrive in Industries Facing Disruption.
Be the first to apply to your business the insights of "Blindsided", the latest international best selling book by Jim Harris, and find out why Jim Balsillie, co-CEO, Research in Motion, wrote about it: "Just as change is now a constant in business, the risk of being blindsided with disruptive forces is the 'Russian Roulette' of business. I recommend sharpening your radar against these risks!" The keynote address will be followed by an extensive Q&A moderated by Augustin Manchon, VP Thought Leadership for SLF. Book your calendars: March 10, 2010 7:30am-10am. Breakfast is served at the National Club on Bay Street.
Sustainability AND Profitability: Lessons From Front Line Business Leaders Who Are Achieving Both.
Entrepreneurs are already leveraging the recently adopted Ontario Green Energy Act, entire sectors are going through enormous transformation, and established businesses are creating innovative sustainable business models in a cash strapped economy. A prestigious panel, assembling for the first time a clean energy entrepreneur, a national retailer executive, a best selling author and a world class strategy consultant will share their surprising successes, their hard won lessons and their strategic advice with all of us. Our SLF thought leader Agustin Manchon will leave no stone unturned during this lively and interactive round table discussion. A must not miss event: April 14th, 2010 7:30am-10am. Breakfast will be served at the National Club on Bay Street.
The Strategic Leadership Forum (SLF) is in a period of transition, and evolving to become a more technologically-savvy organization. Our core product is still based on human interactions, and we will remain a member-driven group and a meeting-oriented organization. We still (primarily) get together to talk about things that interest us. We discuss, we debate, we share, we learn.
But the role the website plays in the organization is changing. It will be central to the dissemination, retrieval, and warehousing of information. We will encourage members and non-members to visit our website to learn about strategy, use our resources to increase their knowledge, and publish content for dissemination to the internet. While discussions will still happen face to face, they will also happen electronically, through this website.
Our vision: To influence and inspire leadership everywhere.
Our mission: To provide our community of members with an independent and intellectually stimulating forum that delivers practical insights and interactions on strategic leadership and management.
Our brand value proposition: For Senior Leaders, their successors and those who advise them, across all industry sectors private and public, we provide personal and professional development (building capabilities) in Strategic Leadership. With compelling speakers and gripping and relevant topics on strategy and leadership supported by interactive, timely, cost-effective and convenient programs.
This past spring we embarked on a bold new direction for SLF content, and this fall we will continue that journey. We have divided the programming into four distinct areas:
Macro-economic directions
Leadership challenges within the organization
Personal strategy and career development
Innovation and new opportunities.
As we roll out new content, we will be revising this website, building an online library of relevant research, developing new web2.0 applications, and encouraging members to drive content generation -- all to achieve our Brand Value Proposition goal of “compelling, timely, and relevant.”
If you are a current member, and have not already done so, please take a moment to renew your membership today. We look forward to welcoming you back this fall.
